Coffee Origin Trip to Costa Rica

We have just confirmed that we will be heading on a coffee
origin trip in 2013.  We will be visiting La Minita, one of the farms we have a direct relationship with in Costa Rica. This coffee estate is located in the picturesque landscape of the Tarrazu region in central Costa Rica. The coffee that is produced from this farm is considered by experts to be among the very best in the world.

This farm supports the local community by paying significantly higher wages than other growers, housing for workers and their families, medical and dental clinics at no cost, and children receiving assistance for education.  La Minita Farms is committed to no herbicide and pesticide use, along with the coffee processing mill utilizing renewable and non-polluting power.

We cannot wait to share our experience with you!

There’s a reason your beginning to see more of our gourmet roasted coffees carry “The Rainforest Alliance” insignia on our packaging. Mountain Bird Coffee is committed to that same vision as outlined on “The Rainforest Alliance” home page; A WORLD WHERE PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENT PROSPER TOGETHER ( Take the time to visit their website, share in that vision and know that we put our product and money where it counts the most, with the betterment of mankind and this planet.

Our Mission

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.

Our Vision

We envision a world where people and the environment prosper together.

Our Strategy

We believe that the best way to keep forests standing is by ensuring that it is profitable for businesses and communities to do so. That means helping farmers, forest managers and tourism businesses realize greater economic benefits by ensuring ecosystems within and around their operations are protected, and that their workers are well-trained and enjoy safe conditions, proper sanitation, health care and housing. Once businesses meet certain environmental and social standards, we link them up to the global marketplace where demand for sustainable goods and services is on the rise.
